About Ungerleider Works

Here at Ungerleider Works, we have a simple mission statement: Help our clients tell better stories. We live in an age where it’s impossible to separate marketing, public relations and advertising. The most important thing you can do is hire experts who can help you move the needle via articles, podcasts, videos, ebooks, live events and more.

Working together, we make good projects great and great projects amazing.

We specialize in working with B2B technology, SaaS, consumer electronics, cybersecurity and biotech clients, but we’re comfortable working with clients across a wide range of industries and use cases.

About Neal Ungerleider

Neal Ungerleider is the president and founder of Ungerleider Works. With a unique background that straddles journalism, advertising and marketing, Neal has a skill set–and an ability to bridge in-house, agency and media cultures–that benefits clients working on a wide range of media experts.

Ungerleider was a masthead reporter for Fast Company from 2010 to 2017 who worked on marquee efforts such as the magazine’s Most Innovative Companies and Innovation By Design issues, longform enterprise reporting and feature pieces and content for both Fast Company’s print and digital editions. He interviewed prominent figures including Buzz Aldrin, Werner Herzog and Elon Musk and his work has been featured on CBS This Morning, NPR’s On The Media and taught as business school case studies.

Neal was also a regular contributor to the Los Angeles Times Op-Ed section. After leaving Fast Company, Neal worked as a senior copywriter for R/GA in a dual editorial-strategy role with two high-profile consumer technology clients. As a freelance consultant, he worked with some of the world’s largest technology companies and PR firms on a series of projects aimed at consumer, B2B and key opinion leader target audiences.

Ungerleider grew up in a financially precarious household and dropped out of high school at 17. After earning a BA in journalism from Temple University in his mid-twenties, he went on to obtain a MA in Middle Eastern Studies from Ben-Gurion University in Beer Sheva, Israel and eventually to become a two-year Assembly: Disinformation Fellow at Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center in 2020 and 2021. He lives in Chicago with his wife and son and works with clients across the United States.

How We Work With Clients

Our work philosophy is centered around a two-pronged approach:

  1. Easy and simple client communication and project management.

  2. Bridging gaps between agencies, in-house teams and the audience.

Once we begin work with clients on larger engagements, we put together an online homebase for deliverables and collateral, schedule meetings to discuss project expectations and build timelines for key phases and deliverables.

We’re fluent in all online working styles; we work internally with Notion, Google Docs, Dropbox and Zoom but are equally comfortable delivering output on clients’ outputs of choice.

For shorter engagements we typically begin with a kickoff meeting and begin work on our deliverable with an initial draft and up to two revision rounds.

We understand that every client has their own working style and their own internal considerations; let us know of any parameters or special concerns we should be aware of and we can make good things happen.

Pricing depends (as do many things in this world!) on project scope, timeline and audience. We offer fair and transparent pricing on per-deliverable, per-project retainer and hourly/day rate basis. Hop on a video chat with us and we can deliver an easy written quote for you and your team.
